US Airways has added a second flight between Charlotte and St Kitts to meet increased demand for the month of March, the company told Caribbean Journal.

The second flight, US Airways Flight 892, launched on March 9, and will run on Sundays through March 30, according to a company spokesperson. US Airways already operates Saturday service to the destination.

Elroy Lewis, general manager of TDC Airlines, an aviation firm in St Kitts, suggested that the new service could become permanent if the load factor continues or increases.

US Airways is one of three carriers, along with Delta and American Airlines, that fly into St Kitts’ Robert L Bradshaw International Airport.

US Airways is currently in the midst of a merger with American Airlines, which also operates flights to St Kitts from both Miami and New York’s John F Kennedy International Airport.

At the end of 2013, the St Christopher Air and Sea Ports Authority reported a 28 percent increase in passenger arrivals in December, compared to the same period the previous year.
