Rum Journal: A Passionfruit Swizzle From Guyana’s El Dorado

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - January 5, 2014

Guyana’s EL DORADO is one of the world’s great rum companies, but what you might not realize is the breadth of its portfolio.

Just as you can buy rums aged for decades, the Guyanese mainstay has a number of very solid rums for mixing.

The El Dorado 3 Year Old, made from the very same top-quality Demerara cane, goes great in any cocktail, and we’ve brought you one of the company’s special recipes to make your Sunday afternoon a little sweeter.

Here’s El Dorado’s recipe for a different take on the classic Rum Swizzle.

Passionfruit Swizzle

Ingredients

50ml El Dorado 3 Year Old
20ml fresh lime juice
15ml sugar syrup
30ml cranberry juice
1 passionfruit

Directions

In a highball glass, add 50ml El Dorado 3 Year Old, 20ml freshly squeezed lime juice, the contents of 1 passionfruit, 15ml sugar syrup and 30ml cranberry juice. Fill up glass with crushed ice and swizzle. Add more ice and cranberry juice if necessary and garnish with a lime wedge.

Cheers!
