Georges Henry Honorat, an aide to Haiti Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe, was killed on Saturday at his home in Delmas 31, according to a statement from Lamothe’s office.

Honorat, a longtime politician in Haiti, has been working as the editor of the weekly publication Haiti-Progres, which is based in Brooklyn and Port-au-Prince.

He was also the Secretary General of the Popular National Party (PPN)

Lamothe said he had passed down the “necessary instructions” to the police “to track down and punish with the utmost rigour the authors and and accomplices of this heinous crime.”

According to reports, the murder was a drive-by shooting perpetrated by a pair of men on a motorbike.

Haiti Progres reported that he died of his injuries at the General Hospital in Port-au-Prince.
